The Pleasant Family- Part 4

Angela vision of the future is becoming more clear, if she choose to run away with Dustin, she would have to give up the comfortable lifestyle that she has know all her life to living in poverty and she would never see her sister and mother again, for fear of her father finding her. She would have to give up her friends, her social status for a life in secret in the outskirts of town. Could she really give up all that, in the name of love, her social status mattered little to her, but the though of not seeing her sister and mother again, weighed on her heart. As she sits in her room, hard at work trying to finish as many projects as she can, meanwhile thinking about her possible future. While pausing, she notices her blistered hands, red from working so hard and for so long.The knock on the door startles her, it was Kaylynn.

"May I come in?" Says Kaylynn

"Yes" Says Angela

"I came to tell you, I'm sorry if I made you think th-" Say Kaylynn

"It's okay dear step-mother, I know, Lilith told me, you were only trying to help" Says Angela

"I see you are very hard at work. My goodness! Look at your hands! They are blistered and red, I will send the maid to mix up a treatment to keep your hands soft" Says Kaylynn

"Thank you" Says Angela

"It seems you can fill a small shop with your projects, are you planing on selling them? To save some money to runaway with Dustin?" Asked Kaylynn

"Where did you hear that silly little lie?" Asked Angela

"From one of the gardeners, he was gossiping to one of the maids, he said he saw you and Dustin in the garden, is this true, Angela?" Asked Kaylynn

"Will you tell father? Even if it maybe a lie?" asked Angela

"No, this isn't my place, but I have some advice" says Kaylynn

"Yes" Says Angela

"I want to tell you about my sister, she was a year older than me and as lovely as you. My father had many suitable suitors come to our home, with intention that she would pick one and marry him. But she would refuse them all, for her heart belonged to another, a young boy of her age, but below our social status. Father would never have allowed it, he grew tired of her stubbornness and told her if she did not pick one of the suitors he approved of, he would pick one for her. She would not have any of, the next day she was gone, father searched high and far for her, but never found her. A year would go by before he would hear any news of her and by the time he found her, she was already married to the young man and carrying his child. Father was distraught, he could not believe she disobeyed him, he disowned my sister and challenged her young husband to a draw. Father won, shot him in the shoulder, father left him barely alive, with my very pregnant sister. Mother told me that he died a few days later, but never told me what became of my sister and her unborn child. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm only trying to show you the possible conflicts of the choice you are making. Your father will search for you for as long as it takes and when he finds you, the consequence not only will fall on you, but on your family.

After hearing the story of Kaylynn's sister, Angela feared the choice to runaway with Dustin is just a fantasy that she sees that if she goes through with it, her father would go to any lengths to find her and punish her and her family. So she decides, for sake of who she loves, she put all her thoughts and dreams of marrying Dustin and she will submit to her father.

So she walks down into his study and knock to be let in.

"Who is it" says Daniel

"It's Angela, may I speak to you, father?" says Angela

"Come in" says her Father

"I have come to apologize, father for my response to your proposal. It wasn't my place to question your planning." says Angela

"Well I'm glad you have come to your senses, my dear daughter. Now, there is one thing we have left to discuss. Have you considered Mrs. Jacquet's request and grant her son chaperone visit?" says her Father

"If you wish me to, I will father" says Angela

"Then it's settled, this Wednesday we will invite them over" says her Father

Angela meeting the man her father want to consider as a husband. Even though she was in love with Dustin, her childhood sweetheart.

 Angela tried to have common interest with her husband to be, she could tell that he wasn't really paying attention. But this is the man her father is sure able to take care of her.

Here's Kaylynn teaching little Daniel how to talk, which he he seems to be getting the hang of, his father will be so proud when the little one learns to speak in full sentences and starts to learn Latin.

His parents make sure to enrich their son's development by providing him with toys that would help him along the way.

The Pleasant Family- Part 3

After 14 years and two marriages, Daniel finally had the son he had desperately wanted. Kaylynn finally had fulfilled her duty as a wife and felt the pressure lifted from her shoulders.

Kaylynn though it was time to bring up her proposal.
“Daniel, my dear?” says Kaylynn
“What is it my dear wife?” says Daniel
“I was wondering if you would consider my proposal” says Kaylynn
“Anything you want, I’m listening” says Daniel
“The widow Jaquet is looking for a wife for her son” says Kaylynn
“Hmm, well maybe we should introduce Mrs. Jaquet to Angela and Lilith; they should be around the right age?” says Daniel

So with the approval of her husband, Kaylynn went to pay her friend, Mrs. Jaquet a visit.
"So you see my dear Mrs. Jaquet you will be doing my husband a favor, if you put it your son to request to see Angela." Says Kaylynn
"Well, she is quite lovely. No doubt she and my son would produce lovely offspring. Oh how I long for the day to hear little feet running through this house again" Says Mrs. Jaquet
"Angela will for certain make a wonderful mother for your grandchildren, she is very fond of my son and is patient." says Kaylynn
"Very well, you have convinced me, I will talk to my son. In fact, why don't you ask your husband to have us over for dinner. It will give my son more time to see Angela more." Says Mrs. Jaquet
"I will have a word with Mr. Pleasant, thank you Mrs. Jaquet" says Kaylynn

Daniel had called for his daughter, Angela to share the news of the marriage proposal
“You called me father?” says Angela
“Yes, we have some news for you, which might excite you” says Daniel
“Do tell father” says Angela
“Well my dear, do you remember Mrs. Jaquet, she was at the engagement party” says Kaylynn
“Yes, she was here with her son, they were very nice people” says Angela
“Well, Mrs. Jaquet has of late, been looking for a bride for her son, to produce an heir to keep their business dynasty going” says Kaylynn
“I don’t understand, what does that have to do with me” says Angela
“My dear daughter, your stepmother is a good friend of Mrs. Jaquet and she has put in a good word with Mrs. Jaquet to consider as a possible bride” says Daniel

“So this is what you were planning, to gain my trust and while scheming to make my father send me away! You are truly evil” Says Angela

“Do not you speak to my wife like that, you ungrateful wench” says Daniel

“She is plotting to for you to marry me to a complete stranger, whom I have only met twice. How can I marry someone I don’t even know, let alone love? Why can’t I marry Dustin?” says Daniel

“He is but a boy, my dear. He could not provide for you, let alone a family” says Kaylynn

“But I love him, all I need is him” says Angela

Go to your room, I don’t want to see you until you have come to your senses and learn your place. Until then, get out of my sight” says Daniel

Later that night, Lilith went up to Angela’s room, to take some dinner to her, so she knocked on the door

“Who is it?” says Angela

“It is Lilith, I brought you some dinner” says Lilith

“I am not hungry” says Angela

“I hear father asked you to consider marrying Mrs. Jaquet’s son” says Lilith

“Can you believe Kaylynn? She is plotting to get father to send us away, by marrying us off to people we do not even know” says Angela

“Did you think we would live here forever? Do you not wish to get married? And start your own family?” says Lilith

“Of course I do, but with someone I love! I do not even know Gilbert, how will know that I like him, let alone love him enough to start a family. Dustin and I love each other-” says Angela

“Do you think Dustin could provide for you? Do you thing he could put a roof over your head? He doesn’t even have a job” says Lilith

“So you think I should marry Gilbert?!” says Angela

“It would not be so bad, it could be much worse!” says Lilith

“What could be worse than to be forced to marry someone-” says Angela

“You could be cast away, deemed a bastard and sent to the poor house, like father intended to do with us” says Lilith

“What? Father would never do that to us, who told you that?” says Angela

“I heard father talking to his lawyers, they were going over father’s will, when he was adding little Daniel to the will. The lawyer asked father, if he wanted to keep us in the will, father told him he was thinking to cast us away and deeming us illegitimate, so there would be more room. It was Kaylynn, who convince father to find us husbands, instead of sending us to the poor house“says Lilith

“At least I would not be married to Gilbert” says Angela

Angela felt so confused, she did not want to be cast away to the poor house, but she did not want to marry anyone else but Dustin. She decided to visit her mother, to ask her for advice on the situation.

After explaining everything that has happened at home, Angela waits for her mother’s response

“Dear mother, tell me what to do!” says Angela

“Has Mr. Jaquet ever been unkind to you” says Mary-Sue

“No, he’s kind and so is his mother. But that is not th-” says Angela

“Then what is the problem? He is a respectable man of society, he is responsible, he has his own business, he is kind and well off. He is the perfect man to start a family with. Do you not want to start a family and not have to worry if you will have a roof over your head or food to feed your children” says Mary-Sue

“But how can I marry someone I do not love? Did you not love father when you married him?” says Angela

“My dear Angela, I barely knew your father when I married him. He was very kind; he had just finished building his home and was looking for a wife to start a family. Your grandfather thought that I would be taken care of and he was right. I never felt insecure or afraid that we would lose our home or lifestyle.” says Mary-Sue

“What are you saying mother? That I should give up my happiness, to marry to marry for security? To forget about Dustin and all that I feel for him, to marry a complete stranger?” says Angela

“I think you make the right choice for the future” says Mary-Sue

Angela felt more conflicted than before, she didn’t want to marry someone she hardly knew, but she wanted to maintain her lifestyle and social status. She wondered if she could give up her comfortable lifestyle for love, could she give up her stress free life for a chance at her own happiness. She wanted to talk to Dustin before she would make any decisions, she would have to meet in secret, because her father doesn’t like Dustin and he was already upset with her

"Dustin? Are you here?" Whispered Angela

"I'm right here" Said Dustin, coming out of the shadows

They embraced each other and Dustin kissed Angela gently on her hair. Angela tells Dustin of what her father is planning, how she is being forced to marry Mr. Gilbert Jaquet and if she doesn’t, her father would probably disown her and she would never see her sister and mother again.

“My dear Angela, let’s run away together. I know a place on the outskirts of town, the land is cheap and I could work in Mr. Landgraab’s shops to pay for the supplies to build a home” Said Dustin

“How long do you think it would take to get the money to build the house?” Asked Angela

“Two months, not including the time it would take me to build the house” Said Dustin

“How long will that take?” asked Angela

“Three months at the least” Said Dustin

“Five months! Where are we going to live for five months?” Asked Angela

“We could pitch a tent, there is a stream nearby, so we could wash up. We would be a rough for a year or so, but we would be together to help each other through it” Said Dustin

“Well maybe I could wait until the end of the month; I could make some project to sell to help if I could?” Said Angela

“That’s a great idea! My mother was replacing her old sewing machine, maybe we should take it with us” “Yes, that would be a great idea” Said Dustin

“I think I should go now, my mother will wonder what’s taking so long” Said Dustin

Before Dustin left, he reached for Angela's face and kissed her. She was kissed for the first time by the one she loved and hoped it would not be the last time.

Even with the troubles of his stubborn daughter, Daniel always found himself in a good mood for his wife.

"Good morning Kaylynn, How is our son?" Asked Daniel

"He's doing well dear husband, he's trying to stand and take his first steps. He is very determined to chase after me when I leave the room to do chores." Said Kaylynn

"Well that goes to show, he is his father's son"

Kaylynn would always make time to spend time with her son, even with all the proposals to families to find husbands for the girls.

The Pleasant Family- Part 2

Daniel had spoke to Kaylynn's parents before putting his plan into motion and her parents agreed to his proposal only if they could come along the trip to chaperon until their daughter was married. Daniel agreed to their proposal. But as soon as Kaylynn saw her parents, she knew something was going on but kept her thoughts to herself.The first day, Daniel spent the morning in meetings but after noon, he took his lovely fiancee and her parents to go sight seeing. They spent the rest of the day horseback riding, walks in the park and enjoying the local cuisine. The next day, Daniel patiently waited at the alter while his wife to be was being walked down the aisle by her parents. they payed their farewells to their daughter, her mother cried because she knew when she would leave, her daughter would become a wife and possibly a mother. her father kissed her on head and beckoned his wife to follow him to sit down in the crowed.they said their vows in front of their family and friends, they promised to love each other to the end of their days. Daniel hopes that this will be the last time he will ever have to marry.

May I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Pleasant!

After the reception, Kaylynn bid farewell to her parents, who were going back home, to give their daughter and her new husband sometime to get to the task at had.


When Kaylynn woke up, she was in Daniel's arms and he was already awake. In that moment, she fell so deep in love with him and she wanted share that love with his other children.

When Daniel returns from his business trip with his new wife, who he married on his trip. The girls have a hard a time adjusting to their mother being gone and getting used to their step mother, even though Kaylynn is understanding.

The girls join their father and his new wife for dinner for the first time.
After the girls had gone to bed, Daniel and Kaylynn played a bit of chess before bed. Kaylynn found the opportunity to bring up his daughters future. She would try to convince him instead of disowning and deeming them bastards, that he could marry them off. Daniel thought that Kaylynn, who was his wife for less than a month, had no business making any demands, let alone suggestion on how he was going run the family. Kaylynn knew she had no power, she would have to wait until she bear him a son, before she could convince him to go with her proposal.


Kaylynn lets the girls know that she would never try to replace Mary-Sue as their mother and she will try to make their adjustment as easy as possible.

Kaylynn took the interest in Daniel's Daughters, Lilith and Angela. She made sure they kept up with their tutors, started to mold them into women of high society and wives for the men they going to marry. She was determine to set them up for greatness.

6 months after the honeymoon, Kaylynn started to show signs of being with child. So she started to take it easy and started to paint more.

About 8 months into her pregnancy, Daniel threw a banquet to celebrate and everyone that was anyone came to congratulate the newlyweds.

A few weeks later, Kaylynn went into labor in morning, The girls called the doctor and their father who was at work.

The Pleasant Family- Part 1

This is Daniel, son of Jeff and Diane Pleasant and Mary-Sue Pleasant, Daughter of Herb and Coral Oldie. Daniel's parents were already deceased when he and Mary-Sue said their vows. But Mary-Sue parents were there to witness them starting to form a family together.


And here they are 13 years later; they aren't as in love when they got married. Some could say that Daniel is ready to throw in the towel. Because the one thing Daniel want to was to keep his family name to go on.


And Mary-Sue only produced twin daughters, Angela and Lilith. Daniel Had hope that sons would follow the girls birth. But Mary-Sue never conceived again and was getting to the point where it would be impossible to bear Daniel anymore children


And sure enough, when Mary-sue went to the doctor's, they told her she had gone into menopause. She could not longer bear any children. She was devastated, she had only one job as Daniel's wife and it was to bear a son for her husband.


Daniel was furious when he heard the news and he blamed Mary-Sue, this was the breaking point for Daniel. And he could no longer stand the sight of Mary-Sue, so the next morning. He called his lawyers and started to re-write his will. And when that was done, he would start to file the papers to divorce Mary-sue.


And during the process of divorcing Mary-Sue, a young girl caught Daniel's eye, her name was Kaylynn Langerak. A beautiful woman of 17, with golden hair and jade eyes.


Mary-Sue needed to be consoled, feeling like she failed her task as a wife. She would seek affection from her husband, but Daniel who was secretly filing for divorce behind her back, would always push her away.


And when the process was finalized, Daniel dropped the bomb on her. How he was no longer in love with her, how he filed for divorce and that he was going to marry another woman.


The news was unbearable; Daniel said that he was awarded custody of their daughters. And told her that he was going on a business trip and that she was to be moved out before he got back, and their daughters could visit her, but Mary-Sue was not to visit them here.


The night before Daniel left for his business trip, he threw a party and invited all of his close friends. Kaylynn was among the invited guest, but Mary-Sue told not to show her face at the party.


Because Daniel was planning to propose to Kaylynn at the party, that was to be their engagement party. And when Daniel got down one knee, Kaylynn started to cry. He asked her to marry him and she said yes!


Daniel's hope of having a son, were all on Kaylynn and she could already feel the pressure of it.


And the next day, Daniel left for his business trip. Knowing that when he would come back. Nothing would be the same.


And Kaylynn was going with him, little did she know that she would be marrying Daniel on the trip. But that was going to be Daniel's surprise.


And the night after Daniel left, Mary-Sue packed her things, bid farewell to her daughters and moved back to her parents estates. Devastate, ashamed and with a heavy heart she left her daughters behind.
